The Annapurna region is the most popular trekking area in Nepal. Offering more cultural variety and a clearer sense of journey then the other trek but still offering amazing Mountain Views. Annapurna Himal is in the Himalayas in north-central Nepal that includes one peak over 8000m peak, thirteen peaks over 7000m peaks, and more then sixteen over 6000m. The Himal is 55 km long, and is bounded by the Kali Gandaki Gorge on the west, the Marshyangdi River on the north and east, and by Pokhara Valley on the south. At the western end the Himal encloses a high basin called the Annapurna Sanctuary. Annapurna I Main is the tenth highest mountain in the world at 8091m, and was the first of the eight thousand peaks to be climbed.
The entire Himal and surrounding area are protected within the 7629 square km Annapurna Conservation Area, the first and biggest conservation area in Nepal. The Annapurna Conservation Area is home to several first-rate treks, including Annapurna Sanctuary and Annapurna Circuit. Annapurna is a female Sanskrit name that exactly means as Goddess of the Harvests.
