Introduction:

Everest High Pass Trek 17 Days, This is the ultimate Everest circuit, start from Lukla following way to Everest Base camp until Dingboche then Chukung, Crossing Kongma la pass which is situated 5535m to Lobuche and Everest Base Camp, continuing to cross the Chola Pass 5420m to Gokyo Valley then Crossing the Renjo La pass 5345m to Thame and Namche Bazaar. One of the true adventures trek in Everest region and connect with three valleys like, Imja Valley, Khumbu Valley and Gokyo Valley. Crossing this three passes is not so technically difficult, but all these three passes are over 5000m altitude, acclimatization is essential. That’s why Eco Tourism Adventure doing with two days acclimatizes before crossing 5000m. 

If good weather or no snow falls before week this valley, we can cross all pass without rope and axes but Eco Tourism Adventure Pvt. Ltd. Always take the rope and axes with the guide for incase, we are highly recommending one pair of poles and Microspikes or Yaktrax for safety. Anyway warm clothes with Gore-Tex and wind stopper jacket. Eco Tourism Adventure Pvt. Ltd provides two kinds of accommodation during Everest High Pass Trek 17 Days. At Kathmandu, we provide three star hotel rooms with breakfast twin sharing base. During the trek, we provide nice lodge or guest house room with common toilet and bath twin sharing base. If you need a Single room we will charge extra $145 (Kathmandu and trek) but high season not so easy to get single room on the way to high passes trek.

Food: 

Everest High Pass Trek 17 Days, Eco Tourism Adventure Pvt. Ltd provides different kind of food like Nepali, Continental and Indian with one cup of tea and coffee. We provide welcome dinner Nepali cousin with Nepali culture dance and farewell dinner at K2 steak house (best steak in Kathmandu). Breakfast Kathmandu hotel provide a lot of items you can choose yourself and other guest house you can choose one items in the menu with cup of tea and coffee. 

Physical Requirements:

Eco Tourism Adventure Pvt. Ltd, Everest High Pass Trek 17 Days is difficult trek basically hikers have to hike per day 6 to 7 hours with daypack except some days are longer hour than 8 to 9. High altitude hike anyway need energy and experience, we have two days acclimatization day Namche and Chukung that absolutely help for your altitude fitness, have a positive attitude, self-confidence and physically powerful determination, we can achieve the trek successfully. If Around month jogging regularly before this trip is a great idea to improve our power and performance. Past hiking experience would be a great advantage and glacier hiking skill is required for this trip. Before booking this trip it is a great idea to consult with your doctor and if you have any disease better inform us. 

Best Time to Travel:

We have two best seasons in the year like autumn and spring, Autumn best month is mid September to mid December and spring best month is mid February to May this two seasons are the best seasons for this trek because of the weather is fine and warm with perfect views but the nights are chilly and can drop to freezing level in higher altitude. Winter season is also good for Everest High Passes Trek the only problem is cold and lot of snow. Trekking in summer season will be affected by rain but the summer trek could. The trekking routes are not crowded like a spring and autumn.

Nepal Visa

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you can easily obtain an On Arrival Visa. The 15-day tourist visa costs $30, and the 30-day visa costs $50.

Everest High Pass Trekking Permits

We handle all necessary trekking permits and paperwork for you. For the Everest High Pass Trek, three different permits are required:

About Lukla Flight

In recent years, flights to Lukla are often diverted to Ramechap Airport during peak seasons (October/November and March/April). Two airlines operate daily flights to Lukla: Tara Air and Sita Air, with flights starting from 6:15 AM until 12 PM. Flights are frequently canceled due to bad weather, even in high season. If your flight is canceled, you can opt for a helicopter, which costs $350 to $500 per person and can carry 4 to 5 people. Eco Tourism Adventure will book early flights if you book your trek with us in advance.

Lukla Flight Weight Limit

The weight limit for flights to Lukla is 10 kg for checked luggage and 6-8 kg for hand luggage.

Hotel and Lodge Accommodation

Eco Tourism Adventure provides 2 nights at 3-star hotels in Kathmandu and twin-sharing tea houses during the trek. In some places, rooms with attached baths are available. Luxury lodges are also available at an extra cost.

Meals in Everest High Pass Trek

If you opt for the full-board package, we provide a welcome or farewell dinner in Kathmandu and breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the trek. You can choose from a variety of options, including Nepali dal-bhat, soups, snacks, momos, fried rice, Chinese, and continental dishes. Breakfast and dinner are served at the lodge where you stay, and lunch is served en route to your destination.

How Much to Tip Guides and Porters

It is customary to tip 10% of the cost of your trek to your guides and porters. This amount is a kind and respectful gesture. You can tip more based on your satisfaction with the service.

Things to Know Before Hiking the Everest High Pass Trek

Altitude Acclimatization

Acclimatization is crucial to avoid altitude sickness. Spend extra days at higher elevations to allow your body to adjust. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and consider taking Diamox to prevent altitude sickness.

Physical Preparation

Prepare with regular cardiovascular exercises like running, cycling, and hiking. Strength training, particularly for your legs and core, is also beneficial. Gradually increase your exercise intensity to simulate trek conditions.

Proper Gear and Clothing

Invest in high-quality trekking gear, including a down jacket, thermal layers, moisture-wicking clothing, sturdy trekking boots, and a warm sleeping bag. Don't forget essentials like gloves, a hat, and sunglasses.

Weather Conditions

Weather in the Everest region can be unpredictable. Be prepared for a range of conditions, from sunny days to snow and rain. The best trekking seasons are pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (late September to November).

Travel Insurance

Ensure you have travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking, medical emergencies, evacuation, and trip cancellations. Carry a copy of your insurance policy and emergency contact numbers.

Trekking Permits

You need three permits for the Everest High Pass Trek: the Sagarmatha National Park Permit, Khumbu Local Government Tax, and TIMS Permit. These permits are typically arranged by your trekking agency.

Health and Hygiene

Carry a personal first aid kit with basic medications for headaches, altitude sickness, diarrhea, and blisters. Maintain hygiene with hand sanitizers, wet wipes, and personal hygiene products. Consider water purification tablets or a filter.

Local Currency

ATMs are scarce and unreliable in the Everest region. Carry enough Nepalese Rupees (NPR) for your trek, including extra for emergencies, tips, and personal expenses. Kathmandu has reliable ATM services for cash withdrawals.

Connectivity

Internet and phone connectivity are limited and expensive on the trek. Some tea houses offer Wi-Fi for a fee. Consider buying a local SIM card with data if you need to stay connected, but expect intermittent service.

The Everest region is rich in Sherpa culture and Buddhist traditions. Show respect by learning about local customs, dressing modestly, and asking permission before taking photos of people or religious sites. Always follow the guidance of your trek leader or guide.

Environmental Responsibility:

Practice Leave No Trace principles. Carry reusable water bottles, avoid plastic waste, and dispose of trash responsibly. Respect the natural environment and wildlife by sticking to designated trails and not disturbing the flora and fauna.

Emergency Preparedness:

Be aware of emergency evacuation procedures. Your trekking guide will carry a communication device for emergencies. Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of altitude sickness and communicate any health issues to your guide immediately.

Day: 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,330m
Arrival at the Airport in Kathmandu, we will be greeted by a representative from Eco Tourism Adventure Pvt. Ltd. will take your hotel. Today the trek leader will check our equipment(s) to make sure for one last time to get us ready for our adventure. This step will also ensure that if any equipment is found faulty we have the rest of the day to fix it or find equipment that works. After checking in the evening there will be a welcome dinner in a Nepali Restaurant where we will be able to enjoy authentic Nepali cuisine. Hotel Overnight. Included meal: (D)

Day:  02: Fly to Lukla 2,880m, trek to Phakding 2,610m, 35 min fly, trek 3 hours.
Early morning after breakfast, we will drive to the airport for flying Lukla. After a great 35 minute scenic flight, we reach Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla.  At Lukla, we meet our boys and after tea break, porter bag arrangements, we start our trek to Phakding via Sherpa villages Cheplung, Thadokoshi and Ghat. We only have a short hike today, however, if interested in more hike, we can take a side trip to a Gumela monastery. Lodge Overnight. Included meals (B, L, D)

Day: 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440m. 5-6 hours
after breakfast trek to Namche Bazaar via Jamphute, Toktok, Banker, Manju, Jorsalle and Toop Danda. After hiking for around hour latter the glossy Mt. Thamserku 6,608m on right side and also smoothness the peacefulness of fir pine and juniper forests all the way through our journey, hiking until we reach the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park after Manju Sherpa village then officially enter world heritage site after check in our permit, inside park 20 minute from entrance gate we can have lunch break because of no teahouse until Namche except for small fruit and juice shop at Top Danda,  If not cloudy a quick look of first Mt. Everest behind of the Lhotse and Nuptse ridge from Top Danda, after Everest will get to Namche around one and half hour later getaway to Everest and Sherpa Capital. Today we cross five suspension bridges, the last one also known as the Hillary Bridge. Lodge Overnight. Included meals (B, L, D)

Day: 04: Namche Bazaar 3,440 m.  Acclimatization Day
Acclimatization day must increase altitude overnight same place (climb high sleep low). We can hike Everest View Hotel which is situated at 3880m high altitude from sea level if you are not enough to hike can go further to Khumjung village which is called green valley where we can visit the Edmund Hillary School with the statue and Khumjung Monastery with inside we can see yeti skull then back to Namche visit market and bakery café. Day: 05: Trek to Tengboche 3,870m.  5- 6 hours
after breakfast, trek to Tengboche via Kyangjoma, Sanasa, Lausyasa and Phungi Tenga. It is an Easy hike from Namche Bazaar to Phunki Tenga; we have a lunch break at Phungi Tenga because of no tea house on the way until Tengboche. After lunch two and half hour hike we will reach to Tengboche famous Monastery with the fantastic panoramic view including Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtega, Khumbi La (secret mountain of Khumbu valley) and Thamserku. The Tengboche monastery opens always if a request to monk but if want to attend everyday ritual (Puja) have to be there 3 pm. Lodge Overnight.. Included meals (B, L, D)

Day: 06: Trek to Dingboche 4,410m. 5-6 hours
after breakfast, trek to Dingboche via Debuche, Milingo, Pangboche, Somare and Orsyo. Today we have a great chance to visit the monastery in the morning for taking bless from the Lama for safe and success trek as wish and enjoying capture some morning picture of the monastery with Everest and another mountain panorama. Today we increase 600m altitude from Tengboche, about trails easier than previous day definitely having a lunch break on the way or directly to Dingboche as your wish. Lodge Overnight. Day 07: Dingboche to Chhukung 4750m, climb Chhukung Ri 5546m. 6 – 7 hours
after breakfast, we start trek to Chukung for purpose of Kongma la pass, after getting there check-in room then have some food before a hike to Chukung Ri. This hiking to Chukung Ri is great warm up for Kongma La pass. Lodge Overnight. Included meals (B, L, D)

Day 08: Cross to Kongma La pass 5535m, trek to Lobuche 4910M.  8 - 9 hours
after early breakfast, trek to Lobuche via Nuptse Glacier, Kongma La, Khumbu Glacier. Today we start to hike early in the morning because of don’t miss a chance to see great view of Makalu and hide a strong wind of Kongma La pass, before crossing pass will pass beautiful lakes, after crossing pass will cross khumbu glacier one of the biggest in khumbu valley, today better to take pack, lunch enough water to drink and power par or portions bar. Lodge Overnight. Included meals (B, L, D)

Day: 09: Trek to Ghorakshep 5140, Everest Base camp 5350m and return to Ghorakshep. 7-8 hours.
after early breakfast, we start with an easy then cross to Lobuche Pass, after pass we cross moraine to get Gorakshep, Gorakshep is our highest overnight lodge which is situated at 5140m from sea level, check-in room get ready for Everest Base Camp after getting some food then back to Gorakshep get some rest if you have some energy left or interested to take capture of Everest sun set picture don’t miss this chance, if perfect weather you have to hike around hour up hill on the way to Kalapather then you can capture fantastic sun set picture from there. Day 10: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar 5545m, then to Dzongla 4830m. 6 - 7 hours
Today we have to start early in the morning to Kalapather Viewpoint, if you want to see sunrise early otherwise we can start after breakfast then hike to Dzongla for Chola Pass, don’t miss the great chance to capture one of the best panoramic pictures in the world from Kalapather. Day 11: Trek to Gokyo 4800m, via Cho La pass 5353m. 7 - 8 hours
after early breakfast, trek to Gokyo via Chola Pass, Thagnak, Nakjumba Glacier. Today we start to hike early in the morning because of don’t miss a chance to see great view of Lobuche Peak and hide a strong wind of Chola pass, before crossing pass will pass rocky steep and big ice block, after crossing pass will cross icy slop and moraine and Nakjumba Glacier one of the biggest in Gokyo valley, today also better to take pack lunch, enough water to drink and power par or portions bar.  Lodge Overnight. Day 12: Trek to Lungden 4210m, via Renjo La Pass 5360m. 6 - 7 hours
after early breakfast, trek to Lungden via Renjo Pass, Glacier lakes. Today we start to hike early in the morning because of don’t miss a chance to see great view of Everest with great Panorama and hide a strong wind of Renjo La pass, before crossing pass will pass rocky steep, after crossing pass will descend beautiful  stone step if no snow and beautiful Glacier lake, today also better to take pack, lunch enough water to drink and power par or portions bar. Day: 13: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3440m. 5-6 hours.
After early breakfast trek to Namche Bazaar via Maralung, Thame Teng, Thame, Thamo. Today we following trading route of Nepal and Tibet through Nangpa La Pass before but now a day’s totally closed by china government, we are passing by one of the beautiful Sherpa village of Thame in this village born famous climber in the world like Tenjing Norgay Sherpa, Ang Rita Sherpa, Appa Sherpa. Day: 14: Trek to Lukla 6-7 hours
after early breakfast trek to Lukla via Toop Dada, Jorsalle, Manju, Banker, Toktok, Jamphute, Phakding, Ghat, Thado Koshi, and Cheplung. We took two to get here from Lukla but on the way back taking one because of we are not having altitude issue for descending. Lodge Overnight. Included meals (B, L, D)

Day: 16: Fly to Kathmandu
